The Corona Virus continues to impact all Youth Sports and staying within the State Health Departments return to play guidelines has given us a great challenge for our Fall 2020 Season. I know we are all anxious to get players out on the field and the Region 85 Board has been working on a plan that will help us do that.
Our season will open as a Training Season only. Teams will be formed with certified coaches and these teams will be allowed to train following the State, County, City and AYSO return to play guidelines. You can find the Region guidelines on our website under the Return to Play tab. We are currently in Phase I. If the State allows us to move into game play, we will be ready with teams already formed, but I want you to be prepared for the reality that no games will be played this fall. Also, you must understand that no parents can be at the fields during the training sessions. These are for coaches and players only.
Our hope is to begin forming 6U thru 19U teams by Sept 1, 2020 with players on the fields by Oct 1. Each Division will require a training structure that addresses that age group’s needs. Our fees for this program will be reduced to $80 ($60 Registration Fee plus a $20 National Player Fee) to reflect the change to a Training Season. Soon you will be sent an email by AYSO asking if you accept the invitation to participate in this program. If you accept you will be prompted to pay the $80 fee. You will need to accept for each player you have registered. Please note that there will be a $2.75 processing fee from Sports Connect added to your balance due. If you choose not to participate simply reject the offer and no fee will be charged. We will remove your player from the Training Program list.
You will also be able to register as a volunteer once the portal is open and we encourage you to please find a position that suits you. Now more that ever we will need coaches to help make this season successful for of the players and families. Our primary focus is on keeping players, volunteers, and all family members safe as we return to the fields.
There is still a lot work to do to make this a successful season so please be patient with us as we move forward. Watch your email for further information and feel free to contact us with questions.
Please note that we are working on a 5U program but must work with the City of Lake Forest before moving forward.
