Fall Rain Policy
If there is rain on or just prior to game day, the Region will make a decision whether the fields are open or closed. The main concern is for player safety. Protecting the fields from damage is also a major consideration. Always use your best judgment when playing or practicing when conditions are poor.
Even if the region decides to play games, a specific site may be unplayable. That call is ultimately made by the referee.
Games and practices are always canceled whenever lightning is in the area.
AYSO Plus and U16/U19 should check the Area website for conditions. Field status may be different in different cities. Lake Forest may decide to play while Irvine or Mission Viejo does not.
On game days, the information will be posted by 7:00 am. There will be multiple ways to get the news.
1. The Area 11L website. Click on Mudline - where all field conditions are posted. This is also linked from the Fields page of the Region 85 website.
2. The Region 85 website - ayso85.org. At the top of the Home page, there will be a very obvious message with field status.
3. AYSO Region 85 Voicemail, 859-9114. We'll change the voice mail greeting to indicate field status.
For the City of Lake Forest parks (Regency and Heroes Park), the mudline is 461-3595 and is updated about 1:00 pm weekdays. The city makes the decision on those fields - especially the lights at Heroes Park. The city may not update the mudline on the weekend so check the AYSO websites for the latest conditions.
